As some of you may have noticed there was some brief downtime with the website. This has been resolved and the website is back online again. Our server experienced some issues over the past few days which were resolved this morning.

MisterX – Our Anonymous leaving cert blogger who will not be revealed.
Annah – From Cork, has 5 brothers, aims to study in UCC and enjoys writing.
Bruno – From Portugal, moved to Ireland two years ago, loves computers and is aiming to attend Trinity.
Valerie – From Mayo, has two other people in her history class including the teacher, loves music and singing.
Ronan – From Waterford, likes to party hard, intends on turning around his efforts towards the leaving cert.
David – Has a keen interest in politics, dislikes the way Irish is taught and is the author of his own blog.

The new bloggers have been chosen!

The new bloggers for the leaving cert year 2010 have been chosen. We do apologize for the delay as we had hoped to announce the new bloggers earlier, but we had some delays. We will be publishing a list of our new bloggers on Wednesday morning and we look forward to getting the ball rolling. Its just coming up to Christmas and people will soon be getting holidays, eager and nervous about the leaving cert. So we hope our new bloggers will bring some good reading to let you all know you’re not the only ones doing this big exam ahead of you.

As you may have noticed the website is currently undergoing some visual changes which we’ve been hoping to do for some time now. You may notice one or two things changing over the course of the next week or two and if you see something strange(i.e the way it shouldn’t be) please do contact us and let us know. Also, if you have any suggestions at all, please do tell us. We love to hear from you.

We are excited to be announcing the new Bloggers for the Leaving cert 2010 Blogger Team. All of you that submitted entries will receive an email before Wednesday morning. Those of you that did not make the team, we would like to thank you for submitting your entries.

Submissions Closed – Thank you for you emails

The submissions phase has now been closed. We would like to thank everyone who sent in their emails. This years interest has has more than tripled and we look forward to reviewing all the submissions.

We will be reviewing all the submissions over the next week and then selecting our new panel of bloggers. With the increase in submissions we hope to have all the reviews done by the end of the week and have our votes finalized. The exact number of bloggers we will be selecting has not yet been finalized, but expect it to be similar to last year.

Once again, we would like to thank everyone for their submissions. If you have any further queries, do not hesitate to contact us.

Happy Birthday Leaving-Cert.Net, It has been one heck of year since the launch of our blog and with this we celebrate our 100th blog post milestone. And what a year it has been. When we started out, we never anticipated where things would go within a year. We got the site off the ground in early February last year, just in time before the leaving cert madness began. And so we set off, three of us, blogging our way through the leaving cert. With the help of the Irish Times we quickly reached the public domain.

Today we can sit back and be proud of where things are at now. With a new team of bloggers fighting their way through the leaving cert, sharing their tales and experiences as they prepare to sit their final exam. We enjoy seeing the project continue and we hope it will continue to do so. On that note, happy reading!

Stop the bus. The submissions have ended! We were very pleased with the number of people who sent us submissions as well as the standard of writing. We are fairly sure who we would like to see blogging. As mentioned, the original idea was to have 3 bloggers, this may or may not expand, depending on our final decisions.

Those of you who entered will be notified by Tuesday the 4th of November.

Leaving Certificate Results 2008

With about a week left until the leaving certificate results 2008 will be released. The day we have been eagerly awaiting and concerned about. And now it’s just around the corner. All i can say is that worrying is absolutely pointless. What’s done is done, and I’m sure the majority of you are in that frame of mind already.

So again, the final step of the leaving cert is here. It will bring back memories and the fun (or lack thereof) we had during the exams. So prepare your caffeine fueled adrenalin rush and get ready as you unfold that page or load the results on the website.

I wish you all the best of luck. But remember, drink sensibly

Its all over! Finally. The day I have been endlessly waiting for and now Its here. I had music today but to be honest my energy to blog about the details of todays music exam have come to an end! It has been a very interesting year and an excellent experience blogging here at leaving-cert.net.

Myself and Colin will be boarding a flight at 12:30 tomorrow and heading to a festival in Germany. So from me, the very best of luck to everyone and goodbye! Who knows whats going to happen with this website. And if you were listening to the ridiculous excellent talk on SpinSouth west, don’t drink too much!

Construction Studies

I have no longer got an ounce of motivation nor care towards my final two exams. After spending the last week off relaxing myself and switching off, I find it extremely difficult to switch back into exam mode . In my opinion a week is far too long. I found it even hard to push myself to look over notes before the exam and ended up playing GTA IV for several hours.

Construction Studies is probably a more favorable subject of mine. Although I really didn’t enjoy todays paper. To begin with, it was pouring rain all day which didn’t help the mood. The exam began about 10 minutes late. Having sat there for 5 minutes waiting to be handed my exam paper and then be informed that I had to walk half way down the school to find a drawing board and T-square. Excellent preparation on behalf of the examiners and school. As soon as i was seated again I was frantically waving both arms in an effort to get the examiners attention, until I got my exam paper.

Finally I began the exam, and had a flick through the paper. Question 1, an open fireplace. We were to draw a vertical section of the wall, foundation and fireplace. The foundations and walls were literally imprinted in my memory, except for the fireplace. Having briefly skimmed over a drawing of this very question, I was annoyed I hadn’t given it more time.

The only question that stood out as a big no no for me was the U-Values question. I have had enough of maths to last me a life time, so under no circumstances was I going to attempt that question. Some questions offered students an opening to use their creativity where as others required factual information as well as common sense. However, some questions in the paper can be a little ridiculous at times. I finished by trying to sketch a picture of a heating system in a house. Which went totally wrong. Although it did look graphically appealing..

With only one exam remaining, and a flight to Germany on Friday, I look forward to a break.
