About jennie

There’s no denying that there’s a lot to Jennie. She’s no ordinary young adult, but one aglow with an incandescent wit far beyond her years! Although profoundly interested in and enthusiastic about her schoolwork (for the most part) she has no qualms about taking it easy from time to time, spending hours engrossed in books, listening to some pretty questionable alternative music and wasting time on t’internet. The Leaving Cert’s definitely a topic she knows a lot about seeing as she’s a repeat, but nonetheless it’s still as daunting as ever.

I’m a college drop out.

Just as the title would suggest, I’m a filthy college drop out. I started in UCD last week and, 3 days in, decided to withdraw from my course. Which was the 6 Year Medicine degree. I handed back my student card and decided I’d never set foot in the place again. UCD and I are [...]

Trust me, Trust me…

…I’m a Doctor! Today has been the much awaited CAO offers day. My lack of nerves in the run up to the actual Leaving Certificate Results was made up for, infinite times, last night as I gritted my teeth and crossed all of my fingers, hoping against hope I’d be offered Medicine today. I’m not [...]

Results Countdown.

It’s just a mere week until the Leaving Cert Results… Nervous Yet? Now, not to worry anyone but this day shall decide your future. Will you be getting your course of preference? Will you be repeating? Will you meet all your matriculation requirements? Will you be branded a success or a failure? In just 7 [...]

HPAT Results and Dashed Dreams.

Today, June 22nd, is a day almost every Medicine hopeful had marked off in their calendars as The Most Important Day Ever. I say almost every Med-Head, because I rang a friend of mine this morning, about 3 hours after I’d looked at my own results, to see how he’d fared, and he didn’t even [...]

It’s all over! Chemistry and Sentimentality.

Tuesday, at 5pm, I officially finished my Leaving Cert. I walked out of those school gates, knowing I’d never ever have to return and I’ve got to say- it felt great. I apologise for the gap before posting- I was getting very drunk. Very very drunk. Chemistry This year’s Chemistry Paper was delightful.  I was genuinely extremely pleased [...]

The Post-Exam Blues.

Thus far, I’ve sat 9 Leaving Cert Papers. I’ve done 2 orals, 2 aurals, and a pretty awful Geography project. I’ve also done all of this and more last year. I’ve pretty much done it all again. Almost. All that remains is Chemistry. I ought to be delighted. Ecstatic. Excited. Proud. But I am not. [...]

French, Flashing my Supervisor & Getting my Pose on.

French. How I’ve hated it for all these years. How it’s made my blood boil, my stomach churn and my head ache. As of about 1pm this afternoon, I can safely say, I will never EVER be using it again. That’s it- our awful relationship has come to an end and I for one am [...]

Gaeilge- Páipéar 2

I’m just out of my Irish Paper 2 exam, and I’m feeling very emotional. Today was the last day I’ll ever have to speak/use Irish- EVER. (Unless of course I decide to do the Leaving Cert for a third year in a row, which I can safely say will NOT be happening. No matter what. [...]

Mathematics- Slán leat.

According to my latest facebook status, I’ve forgiven the SEC for their previous shortcomings. As you may be able to tell, I’m in a particularly jovial mood. Finally, I found a paper that suited me just perfectly- Irish Paper 1. Higher Level. BEAUTIFUL. Like most other Irish students across the country, I wrote a rote-learned essay [...]

2009's Infamous English Paper 2.

On Wednesday evening, after the shocking news about the English paper 2 fiasco, I got a text telling me not to panic, that I’d look back on the whole idiotic mix-up and laugh at how flustered I’d gotten. Let me tell you all, there has been no laughter as of yet. This afternoon, there was no “Ah [...]
